Area around Kosi Bay Mouth

Kosi Bay is a series of four interlinked lakes with vegetation ranging from grassland, beach and mangrove forests (five different species of Mangrove trees are found in this area). The Mouth is better known as “the aquarium” because of the clarity of the water and the abundance of fish species. It is also well known for the traditional fish traps built to trap fish moving in and out of the estuary with the tide

Lake Sibaya

Lake Sibaya has 100 km of untouched shoreline and is South Africa’s largest freshwater lake. The eastern shores of the lake have very rich dune forest habitat, which harbours many of the Zululand east coast species. Numerous Red Data species occur in the system including the only known population of Vanilla roscheri (a climbing orchid)
